Intel to launch Next Unit Computing (NUC) machines

Intel is all set to launch its “Next Unit Computing” (NUC) machines. These NUC’s are basically custom form factor motherboard designed by Intel. Firstly, Intel will debut the market with two models, which will have 4″ x 4″ x 2″ chassis.

The Next Unit Computing will feature

  • Dual-core Core i3 3217U.
  • Intel QS77 Express chipset.
  • Intel HD 4000 graphics accelerator.
  • HDMI and USB 3.0 port.

The two models will differ in terms of ports only

  • DC3217IYE model will have two HDMI ports, and one Gigabit Ethernet port.
  • DC3217BY will be having one HDMI port and a Thunderbolt port.

At present the mini-pc market has boomed with ARM-powered Android based machines. If you are a windows users, then its good news for you because the small system is based on the shelf Intel components and hence it will be capable of running Linux or Windows. NUC is targeted towards business applications and its advantage is its small form factor.
