Introduction of HTML 5 is biggest change and a revolution in web history. The best part of it is being as simpler like the previous standards. Coding with new standards will not be difficulty for the developers.

HTML 5

HTML 5 Benefits

Cleaner markup

It enables developers to use a cleaner code using the semantic HTML 5 elements in place of div tags.

Multimedia inbuilt support

HTML 5 has inbuilt support to play the multimedia files via browser without the need for any add-ons. Using the <video>, <audio> elements multimedia files can be easily embedded into web page.

Fancy Forms

It allows forms to look more fancy allowing better text inputs and better search boxes. It makes form validation native to html. Need for javascript becomes less which makes HTML 5 more powerful.

Geolocation

HTML 5 has geolocation support which makes location directly available to any compatible web browser. This means that you can find out from which location your friend is sharing the information.

Web Storage

With earlier standard, cookies were used to track the unique user data. With HTML 5, web storage is introduced which is more secure and faster. Now the data is not included with every server request, instead it is used only when asked. Using HTML 5,  sessionStorage and localStorage, website performance will not be affected and will store the data as needed. Localstorage stores the data with no expiration date, while sessionStorage stores data for one session.

Offline application cache

With this users can access the their application even when they are not connected to internet or other networks. For explaining this lets take an example, as you know all browsers have caching enabled. As you open up some webpage and then like to surf further looking for previous pages, you wont get them if you are not connected to internet. Here HTML 5 wins as during development of web pages, developer can specify which pages need to be cached. Therefore even when you are offline you can get the pages loaded correctly.

Mobile phone friendly

With the old standard, making a web page mobile friendly was pretty hard. But with HTML 5 designers can easily build web pages for mobiles. As HTML 5 eases the way to deliver videos and multimedia content by embedding them directly into web pages. So the phones with no flash support can also play the multimedia files.
