Google has launched a unified messaging system Hangouts which is integration of Google Plus video Hangouts and Google Plus Messenger. This new messaging system will be available for Android, iOS, and the web using the Chrome extension.

Google Hangouts

Hangouts in a way replaces Google Talk, Google+ Messenger and old Google+ Hangout video chat service. With this new messaging system you can message a friend and get it delivered without being them to sign in. Hangouts rather being a IM client is much like a text messaging replacement. Hangouts has the ability to insert photos and videos. For using this app you will need a Google+ account.

Hangouts Features

  • Automatic Photo Saving: With this every photo you or your friend share on Hangout will get stored in a private album on the Google+.
  • Video calls: With this connect and chat with your friend face to face.
  • Better Group Conversations: With Group conversation you can share photos and show your feeling with emoji.

You can get a detailed feature explanation from the Google+ Hangouts page.

Hangout misses the much popular “invisible status” which was available in earlier Google chat apps.

Hangout has the ability to turn a conversation into video call with upto 10 participants. As of now Google has not integrated the Voice services and sms services into Hangouts.
