Google provided more functionality to its Gmail app for Android. Now the Gmail app enabled archive and reply to messages with just one tap from Android notifications bar.

Gmail app improvements for Android running devices

According to the Official Gmail blog post, if you are using Android 4.1 and above version, the updated Gmail app will let you reply and archive messages directly from the notifications bar with one tap. The snapshot shows the new notification with added two buttons, archive and reply.

The new app also features faster search with better search suggestions. This will help you to locate messages online and offline more quickly.

Although, the new features are available to devices which are running 4.1 Jelly Bean or above versions only. The Android 4.0 version will still have an improved app with better search suggestions and also search improvements which enables faster look up for emails both in online and offline mode. The Android 2.2 and above will also receive performance enhancements.

Andy Huang, Software Engineer in Google posted on Gmail Blog stating.

You can combine this with existing notification features like the ability to customize which messages you receive notifications for and set up different sounds for individual labels. So if you filter and label all the messages from your mom, you could set a ringtone to let you know you received a new mail from her and then quickly reply (because we know what can happen when you ignore your mother!).

Google expects that new improved app will save time by quickly reply, archive and delete the messages which are mostly used by users.

This is another update from Google after last week when it updated the Gmail Mobile web app with more refreshing look. You can get the details of that here.
